Exadata... zoomie zoom zoom....

I've been doing some Exadata related work today in DC today. I've also been talking to people who have actually done some work on Exadata here at Oracle. Some of you might think that Exadata is just another marketing gimmick. I'm here to tell you that it's not. Some of the experiences I'm hearing and some of the stuff I've seen leads me to believe that Exadata is the real deal. I'm hearing first hand accounts of queries that had taken hours and even days to complete, completing in just seconds or minutes. At the same time you are running these warehouse kinds of workloads, you can also be running OLTP workloads, which are also faster. I expect I'll be getting my hands on an actual Exadata machine sometime in the future. When I do, I'll be blogging about it in much more detail.

Cheers!

Linkedin you suck...

I hate spam. I really do.

So I logged into Linked In today.. I had a request from someone to link to them. When I logged in I was blasted with no less than four pages of "Do you want to link to X?", and then a long list of people. I *thought* I had just skipped through those pages, but apparently this was not the case. As a result, I managed to spam out invites to people (even those I don't know) and a mailing list I subscribe too.

Embarrassment... anger.... loathing... Sorry to anyone who ended up getting spammed.
